Hybrid Cloud Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Hybrid Cloud & Network Engineer to architect, maintain, and optimize our global infrastructure. Our environment is a high-performance, low-latency, and high-bandwidth private cloud that spans on-premise servers in Budapest and distributed cloud nodes across the United States and Europe. This role is critical for ensuring seamless connectivity and peak performance across our hybrid ecosystem. You will be the technical backbone of our network, managing everything from physical L2/L3 switching to virtualized cloud firewalls.

Key Responsibilities
- Global Network Orchestration: Manage and optimize Level 2 and Level 3 network configurations to ensure minimal latency and maximum throughput across our Budapest, US, and EU nodes.
- Security Infrastructure: Deploy, configure, and maintain both dedicated and virtual firewalls (Fortigate, pfSense, Cisco, etc.) to protect our perimeter and internal segments.
- Hybrid Server Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of on-premise physical servers and cloud-based virtual instances, ensuring high availability and resource efficiency.
- Storage Administration: Manage complex storage solutions, including on-premise SAN/NAS arrays and integrated cloud storage tiers.
- Performance Monitoring: Implement advanced monitoring tools to track network health, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues in our high-bandwidth environment.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with international teams to ensure global standards are met, requiring fluent English communication.
Minimum Qualifications
- Network Engineering: Deep expertise in Level 2 (Data Link) and Level 3 (Network) protocols. You should be comfortable with VLANs, STP, BGP, OSPF, and sophisticated routing logic.
- Security Expertise: Hands-on experience with industry-standard firewalls (physical and virtualized), specifically Fortigate, pfSense, or Cisco ASA/Firepower.
- Systems Management: Proven track record in managing on-premise hardware (racking, cabling, firmware) alongside cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, or private OpenStack).
- Storage Knowledge: Experience with enterprise-grade storage management and data redundancy strategies.
- Language: Fluent English is mandatory for technical documentation and daily communication with our US and European offices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming & Automation: Proficiency in C++ or Python to develop custom network automation tools, performance scripts, or low-level optimizations.
- Database Management: Practical experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, or other RDBMS for maintaining infrastructure-related data or supporting application teams.
- Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 4+, or advanced Cloud Architect certifications are highly valued.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi for managing hybrid resources.
